Prior Extinction Growth and Mastery

Growth and Mastery are the long arc of Prior Extinction. Growth takes a fragile baby and turns it into an adult or elder presence on the map. Mastery takes hours on a species and turns them into Amber, Fossils, permanent boosts, a mastery skin, and purchase discounts for the next dinosaur in a chain. This guide explains how to grow without wasting multipliers, how Mastery stages work, which tasks feed points, and how to plan unlocks like a tech tree.

Growth stages: baby toward adult and elder

Each playable progresses through growth stages with scaled models, vocals, and power. Exact stage names can vary by species presentation, but the practical ladder is baby or hatchling pressure, juvenile vulnerability, sub-adult awkwardness, adult power, and elder presence for players who keep a life alive. Your goal is not only to “be big”—it is to arrive big with Wellbeing still intact so Amber ticks and fight stats remain buffed.

Growth speed is heavily modified by Wellbeing. Full stacks around +50% Growth (and Amber) are documented; empty stacks near -50% turn the same playtime into sludge. Temperature mistakes from wrong biomes are a silent growth tax—fix climate using biomes and map and Wellbeing before blaming the species.

Diet and sleep are growth. Nutrition emptiness increases drain and cuts multipliers. Energy emptiness means you never sleep after resting. Cleanliness and Social add their own slices. If your adult timer feels cursed, open Boosts before you open the Robux store.

Safe growth habits

Follow getting started for first lives, then specialize:

  • Grow in biomes that match Information preferences.
  • Avoid celebrity water PvP until adult unless packed.
  • Use senses (F) before crossing open lanes.
  • Rest and sleep on a schedule during long quests.
  • Eat nest food only when the colony agrees—see nesting.
  • Flee early; babies do not learn from fair 1v1s against elders.

Combat practice is for juveniles who can afford mistakes. Adults should pick fights using combat rules that protect the investment.

Mastery structure

Every dinosaur Mastery track uses five stages. Each stage has a progress bar filled by Mastery points from tasks. Stages get harder as you climb, and rewards get better. Typical rewards include Amber, Fossils, and permanent Growth and Amber boosts for that dinosaur. Stage 3 commonly unlocks the mastery skin. Stage 4—or Stage 5 for some apex paths—applies a discount to another dinosaur that requires this Mastery, such as progressing Allosaurus toward Saurophaganax-style chains or Apatosaurus toward Brachiosaurus-style unlocks.

After the discount stage, Stage 5 is completionist glory plus remaining boosts. There is limited “must do” value after discounts if your only goal is roster unlocks, but dedicated mains still finish tracks for the permanent species bonuses.

How to earn Mastery points

Community task lists include patterns such as:

  • Playtime inside your territory (nest territory makes this natural).
  • Daily quests (example values around 150 points each in older docs).
  • Weekly quests (higher, often hundreds of points).
  • Monthly quests (very large point spikes).
  • Growth milestones such as reaching adult or elder.
  • Survival windows across day, night, or seasons.
  • Wellbeing hold tasks (keep high Wellbeing for set durations).
  • Exploration and fossil collection tasks.
  • Consumption tasks that ask you to eat meaningful food amounts.

Because quest and Mastery Amber rewards ignore passive Amber debuffs, messy lives can still progress Mastery if you complete objectives carefully. Still aim for high Wellbeing so growth milestones arrive sooner.

Planning discounts and Amber budgets

Open your target apex, read which Mastery it demands, and work backward. Sometimes the “expensive” dinosaur is cheaper after a stage discount than after raw grinding on a species you hate. Combine discounts with the spending rules in how to get Amber.

Permanent Growth and Amber boosts from mid Mastery stages also improve future lives on that main. A dinosaur you enjoy is often the best money printer once Stage 2+ boosts land.

Nesting, packs, and Mastery overlap

Territory playtime and nesting content feed both social goals and Mastery. A stable pair running nesting correctly can grow juveniles, hold Wellbeing tasks, and bank territory minutes together. Solo players should emphasize quest types that do not require a clutch.

Recode and long-term expectations

Ability reworks change how safe a growth path feels, not the need for Wellbeing. When developers discuss Steam ports, remember progress is not expected to transfer—finish Mastery discounts on Roblox for Roblox unlocks.

Session templates

Growth session: pick a species mid Mastery, spawn, fix icons, avoid ego fights, hit a survival or consumption quest, sleep regularly, log off adult.

Mastery session: join on a comfortable adult, park near safe territory if available, clear daily/weekly quests, push Wellbeing hold tasks, stop when tilt threatens the life.

Hybrid session: grow a juvenile while a packmate guards, deposit nest food between feeds, and finish one travel quest after adult.

Growth is patience under icons. Mastery is patience with a spreadsheet. Together they turn Prior Extinction’s alpha into a roster you chose on purpose rather than a graveyard of impulse unlocks.

Mastery often pairs with quests and Fossil collection—bank discounts before apex purchases.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Prior Extinction on Roblox.

How many Mastery stages does each dinosaur have?

Five. Rewards escalate through Amber, Fossils, permanent boosts, a mastery skin around stage 3, and unlock discounts on later stages for linked dinosaurs.

What speeds up growth the most for free players?

Keeping Wellbeing full—community docs put the full-stack Growth bonus near +50%—and living in preferred biomes with proper sleep and diet.

Do I need Stage 5 on everything?

Not for basic unlocking. Many players stop after the discount stage unless they want full permanent boosts or completion.

Can quests help Mastery while Wellbeing is low?

Quest and Mastery rewards still pay, and quests grant Mastery points, but low Wellbeing slows growth milestones and hurts passive Amber.

Why can’t I buy the next dinosaur yet?

Some purchases require Mastery progress or discounts from a related species. Check the Mastery chain before farming raw Amber alone.

Does nesting help Mastery?

Yes. Territory time, growth of nested players, and group survival make several Mastery-friendly tasks easier to complete consistently.
